Balance 502 nominated for 2026 Multihull of the Year

Du Toit Yacht Design is proud to share that the Balance 502 has been nominated for the 2026 Multihull of the Year (MOTY) awards by Multihulls World.

The Balance 502 is nominated in the category: Sail – 45’ to 55’.

This nomination places the Balance 502 among 36 standout new multihulls selected for MOTY 2026, with the fleet divided into six voting categories: three sailing and three power, grouped by size.

What is multihull of the year?

Launched in 2018, the Multihull of the Year competition was created to reward the best new multihulls through votes from the Multihulls World community, and it quickly attracted strong international participation.

Each year, the nominees are selected by the Multihulls World jury, and the public vote determines the winners across the six categories.

For the 2026 edition, the nominees were unveiled on 11 February 2026, timed with the opening of the Miami International Boat Show.

How voting works

Voting is open from 11 February 2026 and closes on 18 April 2026.

To ensure fairness across the full multihull market, your vote is only counted if you select one multihull in every category (all six categories: three Sail and three Power). In other words, you cannot vote in only one category – your ballot must be complete for it to be valid.

The official results are announced at the International Multihull Show in La Grande-Motte on 22 April 2026.

Additional awards within the MOTY programme

Alongside the six public-vote categories, Multihulls World also awards:

  • The International Multihull Show Premiere Award, chosen by the Multihulls World jury from models showcased at the show
  • The Capt’n Boat Award, run separately via Capt’n Boat voting
