Launch of the first Balance 750

On 13 July 2025, the first Balance 750 was officially launched by the team at Balance Catamarans Cape Town, marking a bold new chapter in large, performance-driven catamaran design. Designed by Du Toit Yacht Design, this 23.19-metre luxury sailing catamaran is the new flagship of the Balance fleet and sets a new standard for owners who demand true offshore capability paired with elegant living.

Du Toit Yacht Design designers Dwight Mulligan and Ingo Ferreira were on site for the launch, celebrating alongside the build team and commissioning crew from Balance Catamarans Cape Town. The launch was expertly managed by Andrew Sickler and his team from Yacht Haulers, ensuring a smooth and professional execution of this milestone event. The launch marked the culmination of months of intricate design development, close collaboration, and expert craftsmanship, and stands as a proud milestone in the studio’s custom catamaran portfolio.

Designed for performance and elegance

The Balance 750 is a high-performance, full custom catamaran built in epoxy E-glass with significant carbon fibre reinforcement in all high-load zones. With dual bulkhead helms and a forward cockpit, she offers excellent control and visibility under sail, without sacrificing living space or comfort.

Designed for sailing purists, adventurers, and long-range cruisers alike, she blends strength and speed with styling that is unmistakably Balance — clean, modern, and refined.

Sail plan and structure

The 750’s powerful sail plan includes a 223.5 m² mainsail, 100.5 m² self-tacking jib, and optional light-air sails including a 477 m² asymmetric spinnaker and 216 m² screacher. Daggerboards and a high bridgedeck clearance ensure optimal upwind ability and offshore comfort.

The hull and deck structure are hand-laminated in epoxy over closed-cell foam cores, with carbon strategically used to reinforce mast bases, winch loads, and davits. Vacuum-bagging and resin systems have been carefully managed to deliver a light, stiff structure with long-term integrity.

A liveable luxury cruiser

Designed for extended liveaboard cruising, the Balance 750 includes ample interior volume, generous tankage (2,000 litres of fuel, 1,500 litres of fresh water), and exceptional storage. The interior layout is open, flowing, and beautifully detailed — designed to reflect the owner’s lifestyle with spacious social zones, luxurious cabins, and professional-grade systems throughout.

The catamaran accommodates a tender up to 5.05 metres in length with each davit arm rated for 500 kg, making it ideal for serious cruising support.

A launch that reflects true collaboration

The Balance 750 launch is not only a celebration of cutting-edge design — it’s a moment that reflects the deep collaboration between designer, builder, and client. From the initial design brief through to tooling, layout planning, engineering, and styling, the Du Toit Yacht Design team was involved every step of the way.

Du Toit Yacht Design brings a hands on to our custom projects. Their contribution — from naval architecture and structural design to detailed interiors and systems planning — has helped shape a vessel that is not only technically impressive but deeply personal.

For Du Toit Yacht Design, The Balance 750represents the kind of project that defines what’s possible when innovation, trust, and design vision come together.

Kudos to the team at Balance Catamarans Cape Town on a beautiful catamaran.
