The Balance 442 Sailing Catamaran is designed by Du Toit Yacht Design and built by Balance Catamarans Cape Town. The Balance 442 is designed to be easily piloted single or double handed. She easily accommodates up to six people for a long voyage on her owner version, and she can also be ordered in a four-cabin version.
Her 112 m2/1205 ft2 sail plan allows her to sail at 6 knots without being hard-pressed, and she is easy to sail. The Balance is built to withstand extremely rough seas and storms.
The Balance 442 has greatly improved upwind performance due to her dual daggerboards, and with the boards raised, she has enhanced off-wind performance. With the daggerboards raised, she can go into shallow waters – a great benefit for cruising.
Like the Balance 526 and the Balance 482, she has the Versa-helm. This means that one can steer from the aft cockpit with the hardtop closed in inclement weather or sail upstairs in fair weather.
The Balance 442 has expansive sight lines and a wonderful flow between the main saloon and the aft cockpit.
