Du Toit Yacht Design launched their second exciting Open Ocean 750E Power Catamaran in September 2015. This impressive cat was expertly built by Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing and designed by Du Toit Yacht Design in Cape Town, South Africa.
Named Adventum at launch, the Two Oceans 750E Power Catamaran follows the launch of her sister ship, Quo Vadis, in November 2012. She is an impressive 75 foot on-the-water home. Her sailing cousin, HQ2, the Two Oceans 750 Sailing Catamaran, was launched in November2013. Powered by two Cummins 228 kW/305 HP motors, she is stylish and luxurious as well as comfortable and functional, and is designed for a family and their guests to chase perfect fishing conditions and similar adventures in destinations such as Mozambique and the Seychelles. She is robustly build for transatlantic voyages and is capable of motoring long distances economically, independently or towing another boat at big as 50 foot.
Designing and building this impressive catamaran was a project that took several months, with four designers involved at various stages in drawing up the interiors, lines, structure and various mechanical details in consultation with the owner and builder, Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing, at all stages of the project.
Adventum is expertly built in a sandwich construction, using epoxy E-glass with a PVC foam core. Two Oceans Marine are renowned as industry leaders and specialists in building custom designed luxury catamarans with a build quality and attention to detail that is exemplary.
This is a yacht of elegance, with beautiful lines and intricate features. The interior has been designed for effortless ocean living as the easy accessible spaces are open and free-flowing. The interior design is by Nica Maree of Nica Design Studio and the décor is simple, functional, and stylish, with the octopus theme beautifully woven into many of the furnishings.
Adventum boasts a spacious saloon and galley, with all the comforts one could ask for on a luxury holiday – Poll Audio sound system, 48 inch TV and DVD player in the saloon, with two Vitrifrigo fridges, four 65 litre freezers and Miele appliances such as an ice-maker, microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and a Smeg gas oven in the galley area.
The main saloon is spacious, the galley being part of this area. There is also a state-of-the-art navigation station in the corner of the main saloon. This impressive catamaran certainly has a more relaxed atmosphere, and is one where one would often expect the guests to enjoy preparing their own food or partaking in its preparation, while enjoying a cold beverage after a day of fishing or playing on the water. The interior of the boat is beautifully finished with wooden laminate flooring, and plenty of stylishly finished cupboard space.
Moving out of the saloon into the spacious aft cockpit, one finds plenty of comfortable and stylish custom-made outdoor furniture and a bar area with braai and a fridge on teak decks. Adventum has two spacious aft cockpits – one upper and one lower – both protected from the sun and the elements. The lower aft cockpit is fitted out with an outdoor galley so that guests can enjoy watching their meals and possibly their catch being prepared over a few drinks in the good weather of the Mozambican waters, which will be Adventum’s primary base. The upper cockpit on the flybridge is the main command centre of the catamaran, from where one drives the boat, sheltered from the elements.
Adventum’s accommodation is luxurious and comfortable, while at the same highly practical. The starboard hull is the owner’s hull, designed to accommodate a family spaciously with a double bed, sitting area and bunk beds for two children and the owner’s heads. The port hull contains the guest accommodation, consisting of a double aft cabin and en-suite heads, and a fore cabin that can either be made up as two single beds or as one double bed, and a guest heads. All heads have a vanity and shower in them.
Adventum also has accommodation for four crew in the front of the hulls, each hull having a crew cabin with double bunks, a heads and a shower.
Every little detail in Adventum’s design has been carefully thought out and planned, and she has everything a family and their guests would require on an island adventure – from bait boxes and numerous fridges and storage lockers, to a state-of-the-art sound system and navigation station, to washing machines, wet lockers and air conditioning.
Above deck, the seemingly endless decks are beautifully finished in teak, and around every turn on the beautifully laid out exterior, is another toy – two SUPs, a jetski and a small RIB on the foredeck, and a large davit which holds a large 16 foot RIB on the aft deck, providing some privacy to the occupants of the aft cockpits when Adventum is moored stern to.
The Two Oceans 750E Power Catamaran is a perfect example of how the close collaboration of the boat builder and designer, working with the owner at every step of the project, can create the perfect ocean-going vessel and home. Two Oceans Marine and Du Toit Yacht Design have shown this to be true over and over, and Adventum is a true work of art from the team.
