After completing his Industrial Design degree at the University of Johannesburg, Ingo began his career at Du Toit Yacht Design before moving into the caravan and outdoor leisure industry. Over the years, he built extensive experience in designing, prototyping and manufacturing products for both his own business and for other manufacturers. This included taking products from brief and concept sketching through 3D modelling, technical development, prototyping, materials investigation and final production oversight.
As the owner of his own business for more than seven years, Ingo was responsible for every stage of the process, from concepting and design strategy to manufacturing execution and product refinement. He also consulted to other caravan manufacturers, helping guide products from concept to production and liaising with engineers and manufacturers to ensure design intent was maintained throughout. This gave him an intimate understanding of the relationship between creative concept, engineering reality and manufacturing constraint.
Ingo believes strongly in the value of critical thinking, adaptability and communication in any design process. Years of product development have taught him that attention to detail is what elevates an average product into a great one, and that the ability to solve problems early — before they grow — is essential to long-term success. His design process is both creative and disciplined, always grounded in practicality.
At Du Toit Yacht Design, Ingo brings this wealth of hands-on experience into the marine environment. His ability to move confidently between concept and execution, combined with his strong work ethic and practical mindset, allows him to contribute meaningfully to complex yacht design projects. He brings a grounded, solutions-driven perspective to the studio, helping ensure that designs are not only innovative and attractive, but robust, buildable and well resolved.
